On this course children can shunt by themselves. They should shunt 4 carriages in a specific order on a siding. They must operate the transformer and the 5 buttons of exchange by themselves. Of course there are some unvisible obstacles such as on the 2 spout tracks: they are just a little too short for the locomotive and 2 carriages. Not uncommenly it happens then that the whole lot comes unstuck. For (grand)parents , it is certainly also a challenge: they must not interfere! The child must come up with the solution. It is always a joy to see children working concentrated on shunting . If they cannot manage, “master John” helps them of course. . When they have finished , they get a shunting degree written in ornamental letters in a colour of their choice.
